REGULATORY COUNCIL

On December 14, 1993, the Vinos de Lanzarote Designation of Origin Regulatory Council obtained the designation to certify the source and guarantee the quality of wines produced on the island.

To do this, an exhaustive control is carried out from the wine harvest until it is bottled, going through rigorous analytical and organoleptic tests. A favorable mark is certified and made visible to the consumer with a numbered label on the back and a logo.

After the new statutes, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 33, dated February 14, 2008, were approved, the Council became a Corporation of Public Law, with a single legal personality and full capability to fulfill its public and private purposes of representing, defending, guaranteeing, carrying out market research and development, and promoting, both protected wines and the level of protection, as well as providing services related to these activities.

The control and safety of wines from the Canary Islands in general and from Lanzarote in particular is the responsibility of the Canary Islands Agri-Food Institute (Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentario), a public body within the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands.
